A wee post about Ireland

Warning: Yes I just got back from Cuba, yes I’m going to the Dominican this afternoon, and yes this is a post about Ireland.  And no, I’m not normally this cool.

The past couple of months have been pretty intense and just awesome; filled with new places, new people, and new experiences!  When I talk about these things it’s not meant to be bragging like ‘wow I’m awesome’ (but if you choose to believe that, I guess I’m okay with it :)…I say this because I get a lot of comments  and emails on the blog and Facebook from people saying they wished they had my job.  That’s flattering for sure, but everything I have comes from the will of God…He blesses my every step.  And not all steps are easy. I believe you have to focus on your skills, your natural talents, and be brave enough to pursue those gifts. When you overcome your fears to pursue a dream, you are already blessed. Today your lesson from me is that fear is your enemy! If you are living in fear, you are living outside of faith. Be fearless!

I’ve already posted about my recent time in England, but I’ve been putting off posting about Ireland.  You know how you always hurt the one you love the most? Well, I love Ireland the most and I’ve been hurting its feelings by not talking about it!  Not really, but you know what I’m getting at.  Since I was a kid I’ve been a huge fan of fantasy novels, I’m all over anything to do with elves, fairies, hobbits, centaurs, you name it. So for me, Ireland is this mystical land where at night, in the fog, you shouldn’t wander too close to the forest’s edge.  Either the leprechauns or the Guinness will get you in the end…

I have a lot more photos and a lot more stories to come about Ireland when I’m home again.  I will leave you with one piece of advice;  if you don’t want to be overrun by hundreds of sweaty, unshowered 18 year old drunkards from around the world, than don’t go to Ireland over half term break! Or maybe you’re into that sort of thing. Just sayin’.

Isn’t my friend Jo really ridiculously good-looking??

A rare shot of me! Taken by Jo. I don’t even like Guinness, but when I go back to Ireland I’m forcing myself to drink the stuff…

Here is a snapshot of Jo and I on top of the ’second oldest thing in Ireland’ as taken by our cab driver who played tour guide for us.  I have a story to come about him and more about Ireland in general so check back!

And one last shot of Jo, this is a panoramic taken at the Giant’s Causeway with my little Olympus point-and-shoot, not bad if I do say so myself…

Cuba…the day after

I won’t lie, Joanne had to all but drag Mark and I out of the pool a couple days after the wedding to get sunset photos! Not because I don’t love my job and didn’t want to shoot, but because come on…we were chillin’ in the pool! She was right though, the photos are totally worth it…the pool can wait :)

Email conundrums

Hi everyone, just a note to say my work email (focus at lori - moss dot com) isn’t working right now.  I can receive the occasional email, but I can’t send any and all of my folders from 2008 to now are missing.  It’s happened before so I’m not pulling out my hair just yet…but check back in 24 hours and I may be bald :)

Joanne + Mark…{Barcelo Marina, Cuba}

Honestly, I can’t believe this wedding has come and gone. We laughed, we cried, we swam in the pool. Not a bad day right?

My great friend Joanne, who I met in 2005 when we were both working in Calgary, married her best friend Mark in Cuba this past Friday. What a cheesy line right?! But it’s soooo true…could they BE more in love? Like Joanne said in her reception speech “All you other women who think you’re the luckiest woman in the world are all wrong; I am”.  Sniff sniff. Thirty three of Mark and Joanne’s close friends and family made the trip to Cuba and man what a week. Plus, Joanne in her foolishness, asked me to stand for her. I was the worst bridesmaid ever as I carried my camera instead of flowers and kept jumping in front of the couple to take pictures.  Multi-tasking at its best I tell you! What a time.

Joanne is such a hard worker, dedicated to helping children, and will make a fantastic mother one day in the very near future I’m betting! I felt special standing next to such a wonderful woman. And Mark isn’t bad either :)

P.S. there are a few more photos to come tomorrow so check back :)

Seeing her Dad before he walked her down the aisle…

Being serenaded, lovely!

First kiss as a wifey! I didn’t take a ton of ceremony photos as I was trying to stay out of the way…a little :)

Mark’s niece, Elle, raises the bar for cuteness!

I had to post this shot from the cocktail hour because not only is Elle super adorable, but because Mark (not the groom) is getting Geoff, a groomsman, to smell something in the background…hilarious!

Joanne and her mom…

Finally some alone time! Alone if you don’t count me and my camera :)

My fave shot of Joanne! So soft and pretty…

Between the cocktail hour and reception we all hit the pool!  Here’s a snap of Joanne and I acting cool…
