Grooms: don’t shag it up

What do I wear?

How do I wear it?

Where do I go?

WHAT DO I DO?!

Just a sample of the most popular screams heard echoing around the globe as thousands of grooms struggle to cope with the daunting event that is matrimony.  But who really suffers due to the male’s lack of competence with large, girly, social gatherings? The brides. That’s who. And who’s going to make it all better? I am. That’s who!

If your man falls into the category of Wedding Inept (or if you are the groom and you’re smart enough to know you’re clueless) leave a comment and let me know you’re out there!  Trust me; you are not alone.  One lucky commenter will win this shiny new guide for men on how not to screw up your bride’s day, thusly landing yourself stranded with no wallet, no phone, and no pants on a deserted back road.

Is that a banjo I hear??

Additionally, check out Groom Groove to get the 411 on what men are responsible for on the wedding day and great tips on how to make it all happen while maintaining some resemblance of masculinity!

Happy planning!

Woah!

Time flies when you’re having fun! I swear that’s the only bad cliche I’ll use this post.   Charla and I finished up the last of our exciteYOU workshop series on Saturday with a session dedicated entirely to the business side of things.  Whaaa-aatt? you might say.  That’s right, business!  Uber important, but often overlooked in any artistic field.  We spent a solid 6 hours talking about the power of YOU *points finger at screen*.  Oh Blog, if only you could grasp your own importance! Your unique abilities and attributes make you YOU and make YOU successful!

It’s stuff I already know (of course…I was teaching it) but you never know what kinds of light bulbs are going to start flicking on and off rapidly in your head when you hear it all again.  It’s very much like hitting ‘refresh’ on your computer.  Since then, I’ve been totally re-evaluating my own image.  Or my lack thereof.

As a first step, I’ve renamed my blog!  It’s no longer lori-moss.com/blog (LAME!)…but now lori-blog.com …ZING!  Ok, it’s still sorta lame, but it’s less to type in (though you should all have me bookmarked :).

Psssssssst Charla and I are working on special stuff…keep an eye out.

A is for…

…Adrienne!  She is the lucky commenter who will receive my ‘custom’ (ie post-it filled) edition of the Knot’s Book of Wedding Lists. Adrienne is planning a 2010 wedding and although I’m not her photographer, she is on my list of anxiously-awaiting-brides-to-contact-when-I-get-my-act-together-and-start-consultations-for-2010.   We haven’t met, but I can tell she has a great energy and a genuine passion for good photos! Please email me your address so I can get this off to you asap :)

There’s a lot of planning that goes into running a business lwhere you have to know what you’re going to want to do two years from now.  Most people can learn from their mistakes in business and just don’t do them again the following year! But in wedding photography, my days are booked up to two years in advance so you can imagine there’s a bit of pressure that goes with that.  Don’t get me wrong, Blog, I love what I do!  but it requires careful thought to ensure I’m happy with the result and more importantly; my couples are happy!  I am making progress, though, and should be ready to do the first round of 2010 consults in about a week.  PHEW!

Since every post is better with a photo and everything in life seems better with chocolate, I’m including some Kisses with your package Adrienne:

The Future is Bright

UPDATE!!!!!!! I’m going to throw in some chocolate, but you’d better hurry since chocolate does not last long at my house!

The future sneaks up on us and just like that BAM! there it is.  Oh Blog, I fear many of my future brides are feeling ferklempt, discombopulated, and completely overwhelmed from being saddled with the enormous task of planning their own ‘future’ weddings.  I envision many-a-conversation ending with ‘oh don’t worry, the wedding’s not for a year!’.  Shall I help? Oh I shall!

Calling all 2009 and 2010 brides! Whether I am your photographer or not, I believe every potential bride deserves a gentle push in the right direction…how about a jarring shove?  The Knot’s Book of Wedding Lists complete with my own post-its of wisdom is just such a shove!  This book is smacked full of great tips, lists, and my own two cents. P.S. I believe all great quotes should now be written on post-its.

If you are interested, if you are gettin’ hitched and don’t have a clue, then comment!  Leave a comment and in a few days I’ll pick a winner.  Don’t take this lightly, Blog, I spent many hours pouring over my carefully worded post-its.  So what if I did it while watching bad TV…don’t judge me!

Oh yes I did! That’s my autograph right there…
