This past weekend my friend Joanne and I took advantage of our small window of free time by heading to Eastport with the doggies. The view was great, the food was great, and the weather was great! No complaints here. Our goal for the weekend was to eat as much as we could and to hike as much as we could. Check! Check!
On Saturday we hiked up to the first graveyard in Salvage which is so cool, I never get tired of going there.

Joanne brought her uber old film camera that I couldn’t get enough of…I bet the images that come from it are going to be grainy and vintage (two of my favorite things).

The highlight of the trip was of course getting up close and personal with a baby Beluga whale! We were headed back to the car when a group from Gander invited us onto their wharf to check out the whale that had followed their boat for an hour and came all the way home with them…soooooo cool. It’s the same whale that my parents had played with a couple of weeks ago (it loves boats and loves to play!). These shots may not win me any National Geographic awards, but I may never get the opportunity to get so close to these beautiful whales again! This Beluga is just a baby and is about 10 feet long…can you see the scars all over its body? Being curious can be detrimental to your health!

Taking a peak at me from under the shade of a Zodiac.

Joanne goes in for a quick touch.
